The past few months I've been spending some long nights out in the garage workin on some hand-painted signs. I was inspired by trips to the swap meet, seeing wooden signs with stuff like "BEACH" stenciled on them. I thought it would be a cool thing to make my own with some weirder sayings. I just finished up my first batch of reclaimed wood, and decided to throw them up for sale on here. If you're into it, click on the box to LEFT that says "STAY RADICAL SIGNS" and you can check them out. Or you can just check out this shot of Charley Davidson, hangin out with a KOOK CLUB sign my buddy Blacky just grabbed from me!
and if you're wonderin, Char is wearin some Hello Apparel pants, and a shirt I did for Volcom!

SNOWCONES ARE ALWAYS THE ANSWER

And if you were asking, yes, the Great Park in Irvine is pretty great. Sunday is Farmer's Market day (which also includes an assortment of food trucks), and every FIRST Sunday there's the Antique Swap Meet as well.
This past Saturday we made our way over for the first event in the Summer Concert Series.
We were lucky to catch the Aggrolites play their jam made famous from Yo Gabba, "BANANA".

The shows at the Great Park are FREE, you just gotta pack 10 bucks for parking. We brought our own food, but they have a couple of food trucks available as well. The shows take place on a big grass field, so if you bring some chairs and a blanket, you're good to go!

PS. Up top Charley has got on an awesome summer shirt (tank top) from OF ONE SEA.
Carolyn has her summer uniform tee, which = the Hello apparel grey tank top. And in the bottom pics, Coop is wearing a THRASHER Magazine shirt, courtesy of my lovely friends at Thrasher. Cuz I know you wanna know...

WEEKENDZ TO THE MAX
we've been gettin a lot out of our weekends lately. between baseball games, birthday parties, and hangin out, we've had some good ones. here are a few recent highlights:
on our last weekend, we made a trip down to Zoomars Petting Zoo in San Juan Capistrano. It's a great little petting zoo with a hands on rabbit & guinea pig area, horse rides, a small train, some very hungry goats, and more! You can purchase a box of animal food (carrots & lettuce) for a couple of bucks when you enter, and that'll let you feed all the animals there. The carrots seem to be the most popular with the animals, but this guinea pig pictured here with the dudes seemed to really dig the lettuce. If you make it down to Zoomars, make sure to take a walk around the Los Rios district (which is where Zoomars is located). There are some VERY cool historic houses, a great park, and some amazing photo ops for the fam.
This weekend, we made another trip down to Lowe's for some garage organizing projects, and we picked up another monster truck kit for Coop. Although this wasn't one of their official "Build & Grow" events, we were stoked to grab another monster truck to add to our collection. We had a hard time choosing between the truck and a good lookin' monster truck, but we decided the monster trucks would be able to race each other, total bonus! Cooper seems to be getting the hang of this hammering stuff, literally. He did most of the nails all by himself, until he had trouble with one of the wheels.. then I had trouble with it too, so we ended up using wood glue to get the thing on! We call it being resourceful!
Charley and I ended the weekend up with a little jam session. He likes to pound on my guitars, one by one. I'd like him to grow up knowing the guitars are fun things to play, rather than me keeping them safe and out of reach from him. I definitely make sure he's not jumping on 'em, but some enthusiastic strumming is always good. We like to plug the electric guitars in with some fun fuzz distortion and weird delay effects, and make weird sounds.
Good times!

HELLO, AGAIN, HELLO
it's a constant goal of mine to keep my kids lookin' cool. Luckily some great friends of mine (Sam + Anita) started up a rad clothing company called Hello Apparel. I met Sam and Anita out in Phoenix quite a while ago when I would head out for a weekend of shows. Anita was sweet enough to let us sleep on her floor on one of our trips... and Sam ended up playing in a rad band that we would do a handful of tours with, and become great friends. Fast forward a bit, and Sam and Anita are married, with a super cool daughter named Lola, and they design some awesome clothes for little people and big people.
Their designs are simple and to-the-point, and they've become some of our favorite things to wear.
The HELLO pullover sweatshirt has become a staple in our house ever since it arrived. The sweatshirts are crazy soft, and they magically get people to say "hi" to you whenever you enter a room. Pretty cool. Charley is really starting to appreciate the ABCs song, so he really digs the ALPHABET tee he got. He calls it his "ABs" shirt.
Above is Charley playin some Space Invaders on the Atari in some cool leggings with Arrows on him. They're perfect for little girls, and fit like tight sweatpants for this little dude.
This last shot is of a seasonal (for Valentine's day, of course) heart shirt that the dudes got a whole ton of use out of. what I am sayin.. they still wear these at least once a week :)
so hurry up and get over to the Hello Apparel site and grab something. they're always doing special offers and giveaways via their instagram so check that out too. we may even get some kind of special offer goin over here at GETTING RAD HQ, so stay tuned!
